This Privacy Policy explains what information Open the League ("we," "us," "the campaign") collects when you use opentheleague.org (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site or signing the petition, you agree to this Policy.
Open the League is an independent, fan-led campaign advocating for promotion and relegation in American soccer. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Major League Soccer (MLS), the United Soccer League (USL), U.S. Soccer, or FIFA. You can reach us at hello@opentheleague.org.
The following may be displayed publicly on the Site and in campaign materials: your first name, last initial, and city; your club; a "✓ Verified" badge if you confirm by email; and any comment you choose to post to the Wall of Voices. Aggregated, anonymized statistics (totals by club, city, state, and country) are also shared publicly. Please don't submit anything you wouldn't want shown publicly.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the campaign, and only as needed:
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of the campaign or others.
We send a confirmation email when you sign. If you opt in, we may send occasional campaign updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by emailing hello@opentheleague.org.
We keep your information for the duration of the campaign and a reasonable period afterward to deliver and document the petition. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 10).
The Site is intended for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing hello@opentheleague.org. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — for example, residents of California (under the CCPA/CPRA) and the EU/UK (under the GDPR) have rights to access, delete, and restrict use of their data, and to lodge a complaint with a regulator. Fans worldwide are welcome to sign; by doing so you understand your information will be processed and displayed as described here.
We use reasonable measures to protect your information (including limiting public access to only the display fields above). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here with an updated date, and significant changes will be reflected on the Site.
